NEW IN BOOKS: Otto Neurath, Economic Writings: Selections 1904-1945

Just out — Otto Neurath, Economic Writings: Selections 1904-1945, edited by Thomas Uebel and R. S. Cohen, with a long introduction — focused in part on Friedrich Hayek — by Thomas Uebel. The second to last essay by Neurath focuses on Hayek and what Neurath takes to be the arguments of The Road to Serfdom. The essay begins with praise for and agreement with Hayek: “Let us be grateful to authors who show up concealed fascism .. We agree with Hayek that there are people who like planning as a means of obtaining totalitarian leadership and there are others who unwittingly support fascism by promoting certain principles of planning.”
