HE'S BEEN A CRIMINAL, a drunk, an viciously abusive a-hole, a coke freak, a pot head -- all the while doing the public's business in Sacramento and Washington, D.C., not as a moral pariah but under the moral cover of "caring for the poor." He's San Francisco Democrat Dan Burton -- former stoned Assemblyman, former coked out U.S. Congressman, and for many years the crazed but stone sober majority leader of the California Senate. If California has budget and regulatory problems so huge that the state needed to recall a Governor to fix them, no person is more responsible for those massive problems than is Dan Burton:
we see Burton celebrated [by the LA Times, etc.] as a patron of the poor - even though the powerful San Francisco Democrat's obsession with taxing and regulating has played a huge role in driving jobs out of California. Looking at the array of state laws punishing companies that try to expand or fire bad workers or reduce legal and medical costs, here was the reaction of the Nevada official who has helped 32 California firms relocate to his state: "That is crazy stuff," said A. Somer Hollingsworth.
Why is Burton in the news? Because the good citizens of California have finaly kicked Dan Burton to the curb. Got to love term limits.

Anyway, the OC Register has the truly unbelievable story of Dan Burton's life and career. Posted by Greg Ransom | TrackBack
