I do not regard myself as a "victim," and I find that if I limit my philosophical work and teaching to nonpolitical topics, I get on famously with students and faculty alike, and have no agenda or plan to come charging from the right after making tenure .. I even value a great deal of the material I've learned from others who can be taught more openly .. I just want to be able to do my work without being blacklisted, and so far, no one has been able to persuade me that I'm not at risk .. It's not that I want to teach, say, a course on Hayek, or force the administration to add a Hayek course to the general ed requirements, or somesuch. But I would like to be able to keep the Hayek books in my office, with the rest of my political philosophy books instead of at home.-- "Untenured Republican", who posts regularly at the Left2Right blog.
